MAS in Sleep, Consciousness and Related Disorders

Building up on the CAS and the DAS programs, the modules of the MAS will offer more specific learning content depending on the student’s preferences. In addition each participant will be able to gain international working experience by completing a four weeks (or longer) internship in one of our partner labs all around the world. The MAS Thesis will be the final module in order to complete the full program.

Lecture series / e-learning

The Module consist of a series of lectures within the following categories as well as corresponding papers and a interactive Journal Club for each topic:

  • Emerging Technologies and Approaches
  • Sleep, Society and Environment
  • Basic Sleep and Circadian Science

 

Duration: 125-150 hours of self-study
Credits: 5 ECTS
Location: Self-Study and virtual Journal Clubs
Exams: The examination will consist in multiple-choice questions and the contribution during the Journal Clubs.

 

Specialized Lectures

The Module consist of six pillars, each covering a specialized part within Sleep Medicine. Each student will have to choose three pillars to conclude Module 2. Each pillar consists of multiple pre-recorded lectures as well as virtual Journal Clubs.

  1. Disorders of Consciousness and Epilepsy
  2. Sleep-related breathing disorders
  3. Sleep in psychiatric disorders
  4. Sleep-related pediatric disorders
  5. Sleep Neurodegeneration and Stroke
  6. Advanced Sleep Scoring

 

Duration: 100-120 hours of self-study
Credits: 4 ECTS
Location: Self-Study and virtual Journal Clubs
Exams: The examination will consist in multiple-choice questions and the contribution during the Journal Clubs.

Practical Work / Internship

Internship at a Partner University / Sleep Lab for 2 to 4 weeks.

The student defines the goal together with the responsible of the Partner University / Sleep lab. For students who can’t travel for their internship, there is the opportunity to propose a practical project at the local university or lab.

Transferrable skills

The Module consists of a live online course, focusing on Leadership topics within the Health environment.

MAS Thesis

Consists in 375–450 hours (15 ECTS) dedicated to research and writing a MAS thesis. A pool of topics and mentors will be provided to the students; nevertheless, every student is free to choose a topic and a specialist in the field of sleep medicine, subject to approval by the MAS program lead.
