DAS in Sleep, Consciousness and Related Disorders

Building up on the CAS, the DAS program consists of four online modules. Additionally to 25 in-depth podcasts, the course teaches theoretical and practical skills in Sleep Scoring and offers the opportunity for students to immerse into their area of interest with the support of a mentor during the production of the DAS thesis.

English is the official language of tuition.

Modules

Lecture series / e-learning

The Module consist of 12 Podcasts within the categories of “Basic Science” and “Primary Sleep Disorders” as well as corresponding papers

 

Duration: 125-150 hours of self-study
Credits: 5 ECTS
Location: Self-Study
Exams: The examination will consist in multiple-choice questions.

Sleep Scoring

Provides in-depth theoretical and practical insights into sleep scoring in a self-study mode through a specific software, which can be accessed online from your private computer. Technical support, how-to tutorials and theoretical basics will also be provided.

Duration: 100-120 hours of self-study
Credits: 4 ECTS
Location: Self-Study
Exams: There will be an exmination at the end of the module.

Lecture series / e-learning

Provides advanced insights into sleep and consciousness in a self-study mode (video podcasts) with a focus on clinical topics such as insomnia, hypersomnia, parasomnia, pediatric disorders, disorders of consciousness and many more.

Duration: 125-150 hours of self-study

Exams: The examination will consist in multiple-choice questions

DAS Thesis

Consists in 150–180 hours (6 ECTS) dedicated to research and writing a DAS thesis. A pool of topics and mentors will be provided to the students; nevertheless, every student is free to choose a topic and a specialist in the field of sleep medicine, subject to approval by the DAS program lead.
